Upright Jointed Rhizomatous Begonias

Upright jointed rhizomatous begonias are a special group of rhizomatous begonias. They differ from ordinary rhizomatous in that they have a clumping rhizome at the soil line from which they send upright stems that resemble shrub and cane begonias. In addition they have colorful rex-like leaves in various colors. Grown for their colorful leaves, they do also have showy flowers, mostly in summer. Most have pink petals with darker pink ovaries. These new varieties are easier to grow than some earlier hybrids.
