Closely related to the giant granadilla (Passiflora quadrangularis), it is hardier to cold and bears larger, sweetly fragrant 5 to 6 inch flowers of deep carmine-crimson which cover the plant in summer and fall. It must be cross-pollinated with pollen from another clone or species to produce its delicious 5 inch yellow fruits. Tropical looking 6 inch oval glossy green leaves and free blooming habit. Native to eastern Brazil, northeast Peru. Minimum temperature 32F.

(Syn.: Passiflora incana, Passiflora orbifolia), Seemann's Passion Flower. Fragrant flowers are purple-blue with a corona banded purple and white. Occasionally cultivated in Mexico and Hawaii for its tasty fruit, which makes a refreshing drink. Large vine with pale green 2 to 3 lobed leaves. Native to the lowlands of southern Mexico, Central America, and northwestern South America. Needs warm tropical climate or heated conservatory to flower well. Minimum temperature of 50F.
