(Syn.: Cestrum 'African Dawn').
Very showy with larger deep crimson-red tubular flower clusters, red berries. Downy leaves are dark reddish green. Hummingbirds love it. Grows to 8 feet. USDA zones 8 - 11.
Often spelled as Cestrum fasciculatum 'Newelii'. Possibly a hybrid of C. fasciculatum and C. elegans. A cultivar known as Cestrum 'Bacchus' looks to us as identical to 'Newellii'.

Depending on the temperature, this fragrance can be apparent more than 50 feet from the plant, and is strongest on a warm night. Bright green leaves 6 inches long, white berries. West Indies.

Cretan Purple Jessamine.
Evergreen shrub with clusters of tubular, lilac-purple flowers, with narrow green leaves. Reportedly fragrant at night, although we can't confirm that as yet. Grows to 8 feet high and 6 feet wide. Plant in a well drained site with average watering. Best with morning sun. A nice plant with an arching form for the rear of a garden border or along a fence. Probably a hybrid of Cestrum parqui. USDA zones 9 - 11.
