Although just as fragrant, this species is quite distinct from C. nocturnum. Smaller, narrower leaves, greenish white flowers and violet-brown berries are distinctive, and the nighttime scent is somewhat more aromatic and less sweet, depending on the temperature. Southern So. America.

"Cretan Purple Jessamine".
Evergreen shrub with clusters of tubular, lilac-purple flowers, with narrow green leaves. Reportedly fragrant at night, although we can't confirm that as yet. Grows to 8 feet high and 6 feet wide. Plant in a well drained site with average watering. Best with morning sun. A nice plant with an arching form for the rear of a garden border or along a fence. Probably a hybrid of Cestrum parqui. USDA zones 9 - 11.
