Family: Solanaceae

Tropical shrub with small white tubular flowers, slightly fragrant during the day with the soft remembrance of milk chocolate. Glossy leaves, showy flower clusters, and ¼th inch glossy black berries (don't eat!) makes this an ornamental shrub of note. Give sun to partial shade and rich, moist soil. Can grow to 10 feet high with multiple trunks, prune to control size. Native to West Indies and tropical America. It can be invasive in tropical area, so should not be planted in South Florida or Hawaii. USDA zones 9 - 11 (8B with protection).
