As quoted from the breeder, Brad Thompson: "Begonia 'Bad Kitty' gets her name from the fact that initially her coloring reminded me of a tabby cat, but then as the year progresses the leaves get much redder with bright glowing eyes. Besides that, she's a little bit unruly. Someone asked me why I would name a begonia that grew so wild? I said it would be a little boring if we only named and grew the begonias that made small round perfect show plants. Most of the year 'Bad Kitty' is in its red form and the rhizomes are large and growing a little crazy. The leaves are star shaped, medium-sized, and hairy. They also grow on long petioles that are covered with white contrasting hair. She is also a very profuse bloomer in the spring with flowers on long stalks. 'Bad Kitty' just does what she wants. She makes an interesting hanging basket and you can't complain about how easy she is to grow or the intense red color. Everyone needs a begonia that's a little wild and a challenge. 'Bad Kitty' lives up to her name, as she is a cat after all." New introduction for 2017. (Thompson)
