This is a medium to large leaved rhizomatous begonia. Leaves are roughly star shaped with prominent eyes and veins with sparse long white hairs. New leaves usually start out red, then to tawny orange, then various shades of brown with darker brown markings. When fully mature they become dark green. The fabulous stages of coloring don't seem to change with growing conditions. It stays full and compact and is easy to grow. Yes, Brad Thompson did name a begonia after himself. He got tired of waiting for someone else to do it and wanted to enjoy it in his lifetime. Brad is very satisfied with his choice and if you are lucky enough to get one before they sell out you will be too. If you grow begonias, you need to have this one. If you don't, make this one your first. New introduction for 2017. (Thompson)
