Family: Malvaceae
This Hibiscus species is a small tropical subshrub or perennial to 2 feet with tiny 1 inch bright red flowers. Our plant came from the big island of Hawaii. Needs tropical growing conditions. Probably of little landscape or greenhouse value but could be of interest to collectors of Hibiscus species. According to "Sturtevant's Edible Plants of the World", it furnishes a vegetable in it's native India.
