Family: Acanthaceae NEW! 2008 - Beautiful tropical shrub with rippled velvety leaves with purple undersides to 11 inches long. Very showy. Small light purple flowers on terminal spikes. Grows to 8 feet high, but can be easily pruned to shape for container growing. Needs shade, continuously moist soil. Protect from cold and strong air movement (leaves easily torn). USDA Zones 11. Peru.
