Begonia 'Green Wings' is a small easy to grow cane with dark olive green leaves. Leaves are a uniform color without spots and with a waxy shine and red undersides. Blooms profusely, especially during the warm months of the year. We haven't seen one with mildew so probably it is fairly resistant. Probably can be grown to be large but is easily maintained and kept to a small size. Considered by some to be a form of Begonia ulmifolia though its growth habits are much different. Medium green leaves are small and narrow with a rounded tip and hairy. In certain light conditions the hairs give the plant a pinkish/purple hue. Stems have an arching habit which give it a weeping appearance. Would probably make a great hanging basket. White flowers in spring but quite attractive even out of bloom. Although it has been in cultivation for a long period is not widely known or grown and this is probably the first time it has been available online. A must have for collectors of hairy leaves and species begonias.

This is a Begonia luxurians hybrid with much the same habit and size but with only a partially compound leaf at maturity. Since our stock plant is 5 feet tall after pruning and in an 8 inch pot you can assume that this plant can get enormous. Plain green large fingered leaves that may become partially parted or compound on one side. No matter what stage the leaves are in the plant is full, large and stately in the spirit of Begonia 'Vista Quest', which is a sibling. It has both larger clusters and larger white flowers than its parent. Easier to get established than Begonia luxurians which can be temperamental to grow. (Thompson)
