This semi-evergreen vine has 3 soft kidney-shaped leaflets with the middle one often becoming an unusual adhesive tendril that helps with support. It delivers a showy display in late spring with beautiful 2" creamy white flowers, interior yellow, that matures to solid yellow. Plant in sun or part shade with average watering. Evergreen to low 30's. Can resprout from mild frosts. Name "Monkey Comb" refers to the 3 inch spiny fruit which may have been used as a comb by the ancient Mayans. Popular ornamental in the tropics. Native to southern Mexico through tropical South America. USDA zones 9 - 12.
