Family: Marcgraviaceae Large vining shrub with thick glossy leaves. It produces long orange-red flower spikes with unusual nectar pouches, which attract small birds and hummingbirds. Blooms year round in the tropics. Climbs with the help of adventitious roots to 30 feet. Full sun. West Indies. Hardy to only 50F.
