Family: Acanthaceae This selected cultivar has burgundy colored reverse on leaves with bright red flowers borne on slender, branched stalks arising from the leaf axils. The pouched flowers have 1 inch long corolla tubes with short spreading petals. The leaves are oval-shaped, 2 to 5 inches long. It grows 2 feet or more in height. Part shade. Self-sows readily. A white flowered form is also available without the burgundy on the leaves. South America.
