Family: Acanthaceae NEW! 2010 - Shade-loving showy tropical shrub with large 2½ inch trumpet-shaped luscious purple flowers with dark green broadly ovate to cordate leaves. Grows up to 4 feet tall. Native to Chiapas in southern Mexico at elevations from 2000 to 4500 feet, where it bloom from August to May. Grow in bright shade with rich, moist soil. Minimum temperature 45F. USDA zones 10 - 11.
