Evergreen shrub to 8 feet with sweetly scented lilac-mauve flowers with orange throat in 12 inch panicles. Leaves gray-green with gray wool beneath. Booms heavily in winter thru early spring and is attractive to butterflies. Native to Western China and Vietnam, where it's used as a source for dye, food, medicine, and perfume. Makes a great conservatory plant in the winter for it's hyacinth-like perfumed scent. Full sun, USDA zones 8 - 10.
